Bringing Saskatoon's flavours to the GTA
Thien Vietnam started in Saskatchewan and grew the way most family restaurants do — slowly, one regular at a time, with recipes that did not change just because the seasons did. When we expanded east to Thornhill, the goal was simple: open the same kitchen in a new city. Same broth simmered for hours. Same fresh herbs on every pho bowl. Same long menu spanning Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese classics. The address is different; the food is not.
What to expect at the Thornhill location
If you have eaten at one of our Saskatoon restaurants, the menu in Thornhill will feel like coming home. A few of the headliners:
- Pho — beef (tai, bo vien, dac biet) and chicken (pho ga), served with the full plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime and jalapeño on the side.
- Bun noodle bowls — cold vermicelli, grilled lemongrass meats, fresh herbs and nuoc cham.
- Spring rolls and imperial rolls — goi cuon and cha gio, the way every Vietnamese meal should start.
- Stir-fries and rice plates — Vietnamese com tam, plus Thai pad thai and basil dishes, and the Chinese-side comfort food (ginger beef, cashew chicken, fried rice, chow mein).

Why Thornhill?
Thornhill sits on the border of Markham and Vaughan, a short drive from anywhere in the northern GTA — Richmond Hill, North York, Aurora, Newmarket. It is also a neighbourhood with a deep food culture, where customers know what good Vietnamese tastes like and are not shy about telling you when it is not right. That is exactly the kind of crowd we wanted to cook for.
Same family, same recipes — what stays the same across our locations
A few things are non-negotiable in every Thien Vietnam kitchen, whether you are eating with us downtown Saskatoon or in Thornhill:
- The broth. Made in-house, simmered for hours, never shortcut.
- The herbs. Fresh, not frozen, and brought to the table the moment the bowl is poured.
- The pace. We cook fast at lunch and we take our time at dinner. Either way, the food arrives the way it should.
